I shared a similar metaphor today with some friends. My coffee-less explanation was…I don’t want the icing, the dye-laden, saccharine sweet fluff on top, I want the cake. My biggest struggle is getting to the cake and having the courage to share that because boy, telling about the icing is enticing. Thank you for the reminder that there’s often something underneath that needs air.

Ugh.
Ooph. That hits. Because isn't "unacceptable" the one thing we never want to be. I'll be noodling on that one today...
