I needed this message today. I woke up tired and am going to rally, but I might stay in first or second gear (for those who are old enough to remember driving a stick shift--this might be a more poignant metaphor). Thank you. I'm going to relax and muddle through the stuff I have to do, and then not undertake anything I don't have to do!
I like doing nothing. It’s one of the most productive things I do. Only--I’m not doing it, because I’m doing nothing.
Couple of observations: don’t toss the whey from the yogurt! It’s full of protein. I just drink it, but you could add it to a smoothie.
And you might want to explore the “poetry” feature of Substack, which keep the lines from being so stretched out. On the far right pull-down menu, select “poetry,” then paste in the copy. I use it all the time.
Hi Fran, I read that the whey is very healthy and that some people save it to use later. Sounds like a great idea. Thanks for the poetry tip; I'll take a look!
This is so delicious. I have no idea how you take such gorgeous photos in your loungy clothes while doing nothing, but its an art form in and of itself. I did a puzzle this weekend. Like, the entire thing. And I realized I'm too old for repetitive snow days. One day of freezing my ass off to sled with my kid is enough. But I'm old enough to know that there are rare weekends in life where you can use the excuse of "too much snow" to stay cozy, drink too much coffee and wine, and do a whole puzzle. Delicious!
I love this. I am with you on the pure joy of a slow weekend. After years and years of kids' sports and activities filling up Saturdays and Sundays, it's so lovely just to be! As for the photo, I'm pretty sure it's just the Tierra - lol. Thanks, Jess!
I loved this (and loved that it came across my feed!). Amen to your entire list!
Thanks, Nicole!

Good for you, April! I hope you had a relaxing day. :-)
